Movement, Teamwork, and Fun
Athletics Provide Lessons
that Last
Athletics provide a healthy outlet for energy and emotion. Students stay active through daily movement, team play, and seasonal sports that support healthy habits in ways that feel structured, positive, and fun. The program emphasizes structure, camaraderie, and the chance to build both individual ability and team spirit. Every student is encouraged to participate, whether experienced or new to a sport.
Athletics place a strong emphasis on effort, sportsmanship, and persistence. Coaches mentor students as they build leadership and discipline and learn to navigate both success and setbacks with maturity.
The Role of Athletics in Daily Life: Part of the Valley View Experience
Sports are integrated into the wider student experience. Teachers and staff coach, attend games, and encourage participation. Physical education is part of the daily schedule, and students also have access to:
● A full-size gymnasium
● Soccer and multipurpose athletic fields
● Outdoor tennis and basketball courts
● A weight room with cardio machines and power racks
Athletics help students commit to a team, manage their time, and pursue goals that extend beyond the field or court.
Seasonal Sports and Team Play Opportunities
Students compete against other schools across Massachusetts and northern Connecticut. Regular practices and games mirror the expectations of a traditional school sports program.
Sports offerings include:
● Varsity Soccer
● Varsity and Junior Varsity Basketball
● Cross Country Running
● Varsity Tennis
● Varsity Golf
● Intramural Ultimate Frisbee
● Strength Training and Running Club
Each team welcomes a mix of abilities. Participation is encouraged at all levels, and matchups with other schools are planned to be positive and appropriate.
