Family Involvement
Families Play an Active Role in the Therapeutic Process
At Valley View, we view the student in the context of their family system. While each boy has individual work to do, sustainable progress requires parallel support at home. Family involvement is a core component of our therapeutic model from the very beginning.
Families are included in treatment planning, regularly updated by clinicians, and supported in developing healthier patterns of communication, accountability, and connection.
Why It Matters
The Family System Is Part of the Solution
Many students arrive after years of stress, miscommunication, or strain at home. When families are supported in learning new ways to connect, communicate, and hold boundaries, students are more likely to carry forward what they are learning at Valley View and sustain it after graduation.
What Family Involvement Looks Like
Support That Extends Beyond the Student
Parents and caregivers are included through:
Weekly family therapy sessions, typically held via secure video
Regular check-ins with the student’s clinician to review progress and goals
Ongoing consultation about academic, behavioral, and emotional challenges
Opportunities to attend campus events and in-person family meetings
Coaching from a parent support professional who understands the challenges families face
In some cases, clinicians may also work with siblings or extended family members when appropriate and clinically indicated.
