Valley View Supports Students Who Need a New Beginning

Valley View School blends the tradition of a classic New England boarding school with a deeply integrated therapeutic environment, offering a fresh path forward for boys who have struggled in more traditional settings.

Our students are intelligent and resilient, but many have struggled to find success in traditional schools or outpatient settings.

Common challenges include:

  • Anxiety, depression, or low self-esteem

  • ADHD or executive functioning challenges

  • Difficulty regulating emotions and behaviors, impulsivity

  • Difficulty managing peer or family relationships

  • School avoidance or academic setbacks

  • Learning disabilities or differences

  • High-functioning autism spectrum disorder

  • Gaming overuse or social withdrawal

  • Grief, loss, trauma, adoption-related challenges

  • Oppositionality

Additionally, our arriving students often struggle with peer relationships, emotional or behavioral regulation, family conflict, low motivation, and academic difficulties. Many arrive needing support to regain stability and move toward healthier developmental momentum. Our program is structured to address these challenges and encourage meaningful growth.

We are not the right setting for boys experiencing psychotic disorders, serious conduct disorders, significant substance use, or ongoing violent behavior. These situations require specialized care in a more intensive environment.

An Environment Designed for Progress

At Valley View, students are given the structure, encouragement, and consistency they need to make meaningful progress. Parents and caregivers also engage in a therapeutic process alongside their child, focusing on strengthening communication, working through challenges, and rebuilding family bonds. Together, this coordinated approach helps students:

  • Rebuild confidence and self-worth

  • Strengthen emotional regulation and social skills

  • Re-engage in academics and extracurricular activities

  • Form positive relationships with peers and adults

  • Develop tools for long-term success

Preparing Boys for the Future

When students leave Valley View, they do so with stronger motivation, greater resilience, and clearer direction. Many transition to traditional schools, boarding schools, or college-preparatory programs with the independence and skills to thrive.
