Therapy Overview

Grounded in Connection

A Whole-Community Approach to Therapy

At Valley View School, therapy is not limited to scheduled sessions. It is woven into daily life and facilitated by staff who understand adolescent boys and know how to meet them where they are. Students receive consistent, structured guidance that helps them build emotional awareness, practice regulation, and begin to take ownership of their progress.

Each boy works with a dedicated on-site clinician and is supported by a coordinated team of teachers, advisors, dorm staff, and administrators who reinforce therapeutic goals across all areas of campus life.

An Integrated System
of Care and Support

At Valley View, our clinical, academic, and residential teams work in tandem as therapeutic support is most effective when it is consistent across settings. Clinicians are active members of an interdisciplinary team rather than working in isolation.

Teachers and residential staff meet regularly with clinicians to align strategies and ensure continuity of care.

This coordination allows us to:

  • Identify patterns and progress across environments

  • Reinforce goals throughout the day

  • Respond quickly and thoughtfully when challenges arise

  • Support each boy’s individual learning and relational profile

Therapy Rooted in Relationships

Many boys arrive unsure of how to engage or hesitant to open up. At Valley View, therapy grows out of the connections built in classrooms, dorms, and shared activities. Clinicians are present throughout daily life, which allows trust to develop gradually and opens the door for meaningful conversations and genuine progress.

Therapy at Valley View includes:

  • Weekly individual sessions with a master’s level clinician

  • Weekly family therapy, often held via secure video

  • Weekly group therapy sessions

  • Specialty groups that address executive functioning, social skills, anger management, mindfulness, and other needs

  • Weekly access to an on-site, board-certified child psychiatrist for students who require medication support
