Bar Clarke
Executive Director

Bar Clarke has spent more than 35 years helping young people and families navigate educational challenges, discover new possibilities, and find environments where they can thrive. Throughout his career, whether working directly with students, leading therapeutic schools, or guiding families as an educational consultant, he has remained committed to the belief that meaningful relationships and the right support can make a profound difference in a young person’s life.

Bar began his career at The Deck House School in Maine, where he worked as a teacher and dorm parent before eventually becoming Headmaster. His experience also includes teaching English, coaching athletics, and leading the drama department at Maru-a-Pula School in Botswana, as well as serving as Executive Director of The Academy at Swift River, a therapeutic boarding school in Massachusetts. He is a graduate of Marlboro College.

For much of his career, Bar has also worked closely with families as an educational consultant. Through his work with Camille M. Bertram Educational Consultants and later as founder of Loeta Consulting Group, he has helped families navigate complex decisions about their children’s educational, emotional, and therapeutic needs. His work has taken him to hundreds of schools and programs across the country, giving him a unique perspective on what makes a school community successful and how the right environment can help young people build confidence, develop resilience, and recognize their own strengths.

Bar has been an active member of the Independent Educational Consultants Association (IECA), serving on its Board of Directors and in several leadership roles. In 2025, he received IECA’s Mark Sklarow Award for Excellence in Advocacy in recognition of his contributions to the profession.

Joining Valley View School represents a meaningful return to the day-to-day life of a therapeutic school community. Bar was drawn to Valley View by the dedication of its staff, the genuine relationships they share with students, and the school’s longstanding commitment to meeting boys where they are. As Executive Director, he looks forward to working alongside the school’s talented team to build on Valley View’s strong foundation while ensuring that each boy and family feels understood, supported, and connected.

Outside of work, Bar enjoys spending time with his wife, Lauren, and their four adult children. He also enjoys endurance racing, traveling, spending time on the water, and cheering on the Boston Red Sox.
