Don Thompson
Admissions Coordinator

Don Thompson brings more than 20 years of experience working with young people and their families. Throughout his career, he has remained grounded in a simple belief: boys thrive when they feel connected to trusted adults, supportive peers, and their families. He has seen firsthand how the right environment, relationships, and opportunities can help a struggling boy rediscover his confidence, recognize his strengths, and move forward.

Don’s diverse professional background includes experiential education, wilderness and adventure programming, residential mentoring, and program leadership. More recently, his work in admissions and parent coaching has focused on helping families navigate difficult decisions, better understand their child’s needs, and identify a path forward.

As a father of two, Don understands the challenges, uncertainties, and rewards of parenting. He brings honesty, patience, and empathy to his relationships with families, taking the time to understand each boy as an individual rather than defining him by the challenges that brought him to Valley View School. At Valley View, Don values the opportunity to build meaningful relationships with families, helping them feel informed, supported, and connected throughout their journey.

Don has completed training in coaching through the International Coaching Federation (ICF) and enjoys helping others explore challenges, discover possibilities, and build on their strengths. Outside of work, he enjoys running, biking, exploring new trails, tackling his wife’s ever-growing honey-do list, and watching more science fiction than he cares to admit.
