Nancy DiPilato, MA
Spanish

After 35 years of teaching in public schools, Nancy DiPilato decided to forgo retirement to work at Valley View School. She felt called to return to the classroom in a setting with a mission she believes in, where she could connect with students on a deeper level and help them rediscover a love of learning.

Nancy began her teaching career in 1987, after an unexpected change in direction early in college. Growing up in an Italian neighborhood in Worcester, she attended a grammar school with a diverse student population, and this exposure led to her decision to study Spanish in junior high. Initially majoring in chemical engineering in college, she soon realized her passion lay elsewhere and switched her major to Spanish. That decision led her to spend a year in Spain, living with host families and immersing herself fully in the language and culture while studying at the University of San Luis in Madrid—a formative experience that shaped both her worldview and her teaching style.

Nancy earned her Bachelor of Arts and Sciences degree from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, and her Master of Education degree at Worcester State University. Nancy also participates in the scoring of the Spanish Educator Licensure Test for the states of Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, and Florida.

Throughout her decades in education, Nancy has been known for her organization, structure, and consistency in the classroom—qualities she believes sets students up for success in any academic environment. Her classes emphasize clear expectations and daily practice, helping students build both discipline and confidence.

At Valley View, Nancy finds it deeply rewarding to help boys discover that they can, in fact, love learning—and to witness their progress as they develop the tools and self-belief to thrive. She sees her role as both educator and guide, accompanying students on a meaningful part of their journey toward independence and success.

Outside of school, Nancy enjoys spending time with her family, playing cards, and performing backup vocals in her brother’s band. Whether in music, teaching, or life, she values dedication, daily practice, and the joy of seeing hard work pay off.
