Rick May
Executive Director
Rick began his career at Valley View School in 1999 and has held nearly every role across the program, including residential staff member, athletic director, coach, teacher, academic director, clinician, associate director, admissions coordinator, and now executive director. His unconventional path to leadership has given him a uniquely well-rounded perspective on every dimension of Valley View School.
As a child, Rick was fiercely independent, adventurous, and admittedly impulsive. He jokes that he “moved out” the day he got his first bike at age five. That boyhood spirit, combined with a love of athletics and teamwork, has always shaped the way he connects with Valley View students and staff. Whether on the field, in the classroom, or in a therapeutic setting, Rick draws on the power of relationships and collaboration to support growth and change.
Over the course of more than two decades, Rick has left a lasting imprint on the evolution of Valley View, helping the program adapt while staying true to its core mission. Known for his strong commitment to every aspect of the school, bringing people together, and working alongside students as well as with staff, Rick continues to lead with both vision and hands-on involvement.
Outside of his role as executive director, Rick is a devoted father. His wife has also been a cornerstone of the Valley View teaching team for over twenty years, and together their family is deeply connected to the life of the school.
